Study on interfacial thermal resistance between single wall carbon nanotubes and nickel by molecular dynamics

چکیده

Abstract The interfacial thermal resistance of the nanocontact system carbon nanotubes and nickel crystals was investigated using molecular dynamics. It found that with increase in temperature, interface gradually increased. In addition, also increases contact distance. ballistic transport phonons is proposed to be main reason for this case.

Interfacial Thermal Resistance Between Carbon Nanotubes: Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Analytical Thermal Modeling

Interfacial thermal transport between offset parallel (10,10) single-wall carbon nanotubes is investigated by molecular dynamics simulation and analytical thermal modeling as a function of nanotube spacing, overlap, and length. A four order of magnitude reduction in interfacial thermal resistance is found as the nanotubes are brought into intimate contact. A reduction is also found for longer n...

Thermal Conductance for Single Wall Carbon Nanotubes

We report a theoretical analysis of the phonon thermal conductance, κ(T ), for single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCN). In a range of low temperatues up to 100K, κ(T ) of perfect SWCN is found to increase with temperature, approximately, in a parabolic fashion. This is qualitatively consistent with recent experimental measurements where the tube-tube interactions are negligibly weak. When the carbo...

Thermal Conductivity of Single-Wall Carbon Nanotubes

Despite the significant amount of research on single-wall carbon nanotubes, their thermal conductivity has not been well established. To date only one experimental thermal conductivity measurement has been reported for these molecules around room temperature, with large uncertainty in the thermal conductivity values. Existing theoretical predictions based on molecular dynamics simulation range ...

Molecular Dynamics Investigation of The Elastic Constants and Moduli of Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Determination of the mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes is an essential step in their applications from macroscopic composites to nano-electro-mechanical systems. In this paper we report the results of a series of molecular dynamics simulations carried out to predict the elastic constants, i.e. the elements of the stiffness tensor, and the elastic moduli, namely the Young’s and shear mod...
